Cruise to nowhere: An honest experience

Okay guys, let’s be honest, who here thinks that a getaway on a cruise is boring and only meant for older people? I know I did. But that was way before I experienced it first-hand on Dream Cruise! I mean it’s not really a full-fledged travel experience, but we can certainly make do with what we can enjoy right now.
The night before, I couldn’t contain my excitement with what this sea adventure could bring! While it’s no island-hopping or swimming with dolphins, it was definitely something out of the norm, and most importantly, a quick escape out of Singapore.
It’s D-day! Stepping foot on the cruise, it felt like a dream - A dream to be whisked away from the chaos of the pandemic. Apart from the usual administrative checking, it’s also a MUST to download the Dream Cruises app before boarding to be able to access the wifi and to book day-to-day activities. In addition, the Tracetogether app must be updated before taking the ART test to facilitate boarding.
Throughout the process, it still felt surreal to me that I could take some time off to be enjoying the ocean breeze and absorb more Vitamin D from the sun instead of being cooped up in my office.
The more exciting part of the cruise – checking in into our room! Our room was big and spacious enough for 2, with a balcony providing a gorgeous view. Feeling the gentle cool breeze off the salty seawater and watching the small ripples on the ocean, I was sure that life in the cruise the next few days will be loads of fun!
As our ship started embarking on THE journey to nowhere, we left our rooms to explore our new home for the next few days. Casino, swimming pools, cinema and even outdoor adventure could be seen along our way of exploring. Definitely never a dull moment on board!
Let me break it down…
They did not go easy on the variety of food there! From Chinese cuisine to Japanese to Italian, there were a total of 3 complimentary dining rooms to choose from - The Lido, Dream Dining Room Upper, & Dream Dining Room Lower. For more F&B deals, we can choose to top up on their F&B credits on top of the amount we have paid to enjoy a wider range of dining options!
Also, a quick tip! It is highly recommended to book restaurants on the first day to avoid disappointment as the slots fill up quickly over the next few days.
Water on water, ever heard of it? What I was referring to is the swimming pool and waterpark on deck! What surprised me was how quiet the swimming pool was - one would think that it would be crowded as who doesn’t swim on their holiday? As usual, we highly recommend for bookings of time slots to be made once onboard the ship to be able to pick out your favourite pool or jacuzzis.
With a total of 6 jacuzzis on board, enjoy a full hour of relaxation! A pro tip, my personal recommendation to fully utilise your jacuzzi time would be during sunset! Book the tub at Zouk Beach Club and watch the sun slowly set for the day. With Golden drips of light emitting out from the skyline, the serenity definitely should not be missed!
Another must try experience, the waterparks! I mean waterparks are cliche, but I promise this one’s different. I would say I had the best time with their water slides & drops - 3 non-intense, and 2 extremes, bringing a total of 5 drops to elevate your waterpark experience! Sadly, we were unable to bring any recording device for there were cases of incidents of guests injuring themselves with their video equipment. Would love for everyone to take note of all safety instructions and have fun! I mean that’s what we’re all there for, ain’t it?
Experience live VR sessions in their ESC EXPERIENCE LAB with the choice of your games and be brought into the world of 3D fantasies! Feel the thrill in each game with real life movements ranging from roller coasters to haunted houses! Depending on the different time slots, there might be exclusive promos, so do check them out!
For those who are into live shows and performances, fret not! In the Zodiac Theatre, captivating live shows are exclusively curated to enhance your holiday, even on high seas. Movie theatres in the lobby or Zouk Beach Club are available for bookings too! Also, High-Definition blockbuster movies are screened at specific time on the Dream Screen! Perfect for couples and families, enjoy a night of film under the starry skies and night breeze in the middle of the ocean with the Zouk Beach Club movie screens, an open-air movie concept!
